You'll soon have a lot more options to get around in south Phoenix.
It's part of the "Avenida Rio Salado" project, and the end is in sight.
Most of the work on the Broadway Road makeover -- that began over two years ago -- should be done in about six months.
The new road will be wider, have bike lanes, street lights and sidewalks stretching six miles - all the way from 51st Avenue to 7th Street. Right now, the focus is from 17th to 35th avenues, with traffic down to just one lane in each direction and a traffic shift on the way.
Public transportation riders can also take advantage of new bus stops along Broadway Road, which is in line with the projects’ goal, to make all types of travel in the area even easier.
