Phoenix officials are about to open a newly constructed mile-long stretch of roadway to connect Loop 303 and Interstate 17.
The segment of Sonoran Desert Drive in north Phoenix will be dedicated Saturday morning.
It consists of six travel lanes, medians, bike lanes, a bridge over Skunk Creek Wash and a 10-foot-wide multi-use trail along the roadway's north side.
Construction began in early 2015 and cost $14.7 million.
