Authorities are investigating after a shooting left two people with life-threatening injuries.

First responders were called to an address near 19th and Peoria avenues just before 11 p.m. Friday.

Phoenix firefighters said a man was taken to the hospital after being shot two or three times in the chest. A woman was also hospitalized after being shot in the head. Both patients' injuries were considered life-threatening, officials said.

ABC15 crews spoke with Marcus Garcia who says he knew the man who was shot as he was his roommate. He heard a knock on their home, opened the door and someone asked him for Marcos. Then he said he heard gunfire.

Police tell ABC15 an unidentified suspect arrived at the home in the area, asked for an occupant inside the home and as the occupant was opening the door, the suspect started shooting before fleeing from the area. The suspect has not been located yet and police are still investigating.

On Saturday shortly before 5 a.m., officials told ABC15 the pair is alive.
