A north Valley resident is using a drone to try to catch speeders and stop sign runners in his private neighborhood.

Michael Dadamo films cars breezing through stop signs and, in some cases, uses a drone’s camera to follow the cars home in the Lone Mountain development, at 60th Street and Lone Mountain Road in North Phoenix.

"Maybe the reality is they should actually stop at the stop signs and have respect for their neighbors,” Dadamo said of the drivers who fail to stop at neighborhood stop signs. Dadamo cited safety concerns for the neighborhood’s children.

One of the families Dadamo trailed home, who asked not to be identified, called the drone surveillance an invasion of privacy.

Dadamo brushed off the concern. Under Arizona law, it is legal to use a drone to videotape someone in that person’s backyard.

An after-hours email to one of the neighborhood’s developers was not returned.
