Interstate 17 northbound at Union Hills Drive has reopened hours after a crash involving a police officer closed it down.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, troopers were headed their way to a vehicle that was blocking the freeway around 4:39 a.m. The vehicle struck the median and was blocking the middle lanes of the freeway without any lights on. Moments later around 4:43 a.m., a Phoenix police officer on a motorcycle collided with that vehicle.
