A pursuit suspect is in jail after troopers with the Arizona Department of Public Safety used a PIT maneuver to end the chase along Interstate 17.

DPS says the incident started around 5:20 p.m. Thursday when several people reported an erratic driver on I-17 south of Cordes Junction. The callers told dispatchers the vehicle was weaving all over the road and was not staying in its lane. Troopers located the driver and witnessed the same activity.

Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle near Black Canyon City and the driver failed to stop, which initiated a pursuit.

A Pursuit Intervention Technique, or PIT maneuver, was conducted near Pioneer Road, which successfully stopped the vehicle.

The driver was taken into custody and later identified by DPS as 37-year-old Ryan Begay of Keams Canyon, Arizona.

Begay reportedly showed signs of impairment and was booked into jail on charges of aggravated DUI and unlawful flight.
