A driver is in custody after police found an AR-15 and a bulletproof vest inside his vehicle as they were conducting a traffic stop in a north Phoenix neighborhood.
Police around 9:30 a.m. initially pulled over a motorcyclist in the area of 29th Avenue and Greenway Road. As they initiated the stop, the driver of a Trans Am who had apparently been following the motorcyclist got in the way.
As the motorcyclist fled the scene, officers contacted the Trans-Am driver, and found an AR-15, ski mask, ballistic vest, and multiple license plates inside. It was later determined that the AR-15 had been stolen.
