One woman who is undoubtedly happy to hear the state has moved to dismiss all charges against accused freeway shooter Leslie Merritt, Jr. is Christine Davis.
She had his back since day one and all she got were threats and blowback.
Davis tried to raise bail money for Merritt back in November. At the time, her goal was to get him home to his family by Christmas.
Davis says many people rushed to judgment in the case and her campaign to spring him him jail raised only $370.
She says the reaction online was downright nasty.
"They threaten you in a way, 'You must be crazy' and 'You better not go public with this,' said Davis. "Your mind goes all kinds of places wondering what could possibly happen."
Davis says she is going to give the money she's raised to Merritt, even though a judge released him from jail and she's glad he is at home with his family.
