Senate to consider changes to 'revenge porn' law

The Arizona Senate is set to vote on a replacement to a 2014 law barring so-called "revenge porn."

Monday's scheduled vote on House Bill 2001 comes nearly seven weeks after it unanimously passed the House on the third day of the Legislative session.

The quick House passage was intended to fast-track the bill but it languished in the Senate. Passage will send it to Gov. Doug Ducey's desk.

Republican Rep. J.D. Mesnard of Chandler authored a similar bill enacted two years ago but constitutional concerns raised by publishers and photographers in a lawsuit led a judge to block it.

The groups that sued say they are happy with the latest version.

The bill makes it a crime to share nude photos of another person with intent to harm them.
