A woman and child were taken to a hospital after their vehicle flipped over and crashed into a wall near 7th and Lewis avenues Wednesday night, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

A man on scene told ABC15 that he was driving home from his father’s funeral when he saw the car behind him rollover. He rushed to help the screaming woman and the child.

Fire officials said the vehicle hit the outside block wall of a house and that there is no structural damage to the home. The woman and child's medical conditions were not released.

The Good Samaritan, Michael Rivera Jr., said his father, Lt Michael Rivera, was a Phoenix police lieutenant and that he knows that’s what his dad would have wanted him to do.

Lt. Rivera, 53, died June 26 of natural causes, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
