The Phoenix Police Department is reminding their officers to remain vigilant after Thursday’s shooting in Dallas.

Police Chief Joseph Yahner said Friday the department has made some changes in the wake of the Dallas attack.

Yahner said some officers are being assigned two to a patrol vehicle. In addition, two-person units are being increased more in high-crime areas.

Yahner spoke at a news conference with the mayor at Phoenix city hall just hours ahead of a planned protest over fatal shootings by police of black men in other states.

Local activist the Rev. Jarrett Maupin and others are planning a rally and march in front of city hall at 8 p.m.

A representative of Arizona Black Lives Matter says the demonstration is not affiliated with the group.

Other police agencies across the nation have taken measures after the shooting in Dallas, including working in pairs.
