Phoenix police say a suspect died after he was taken into custody on Wednesday evening.

According to police officials, officers were called to an apartment complex near 7th Street and Camelback Road around 6 p.m. for an unknown trouble call. Officers learned that the suspect, 39-year-old Michael Snyder, was discovered inside the victim's apartment without permission and a fight broke out.

An officer deployed a Taser on Snyder while he was resisting arrest. Witnesses assisted with taking Snyder into custody.

During the arrest, Snyder became unresponsive and officers attempted life-saving measures until Fire personnel took over.

He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

A Medical Examiner is working to determine the cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.
