PHOENIX, AZ — A stabbing call turned into a lifesaving opportunity for Phoenix police officers Saturday afternoon.

Authorities say the officers were called to a fight near 15th and Glendale avenues and found a person who was bleeding profusely after being stabbed with a knife.

Officers took matters into their own hands to help the victim.

"These officers immediately jumped into action. They took the tourniquet they'd been issued and with their training, they were able to calm the victim down while they applied life-saving measures. This may have had a huge difference in the outcome of this event," said Sgt. James Rothschild.

Authorities say the victim's injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
