A Phoenix father is accused of taking a knife and holding it to his young daughter's throat as a form of discipline.

Jordan Timothy Armbrust, 24, was arrested at his home near 27th and Michigan avenues on May 3 accused of child abuse.

According to police, Armbrust took an 8-inch kitchen knife with the plastic sheath still on it and placed the blade against his 7-year-old daughter's neck.

He told police he wanted to "scare" the child because she had allegedly been spying on him and "he wanted her to know what happens to spies," according to court records.

Police said the girl's two sisters, both six years old, witnessed it.

Armbrust was booked into jail on one count of child abuse.
