A web cam that normally shows the nest of a family of peregrine falcons in downtown Phoenix has been temporarily turned off while a chick adjusts to newly fitted leg braces.

The Arizona Game and Fish Department says the braces were put on the chick because splayed legs made it difficult for the bird to stand or move nationally.

After being seen falling and flailing its wings, the chick been taken to an animal hospital for x-rays Monday while its parents were away from the nest.

The department says it turned off the camera for several days to spare viewers "the discomfort" of watching the chick fall over while it adjusts to braces.

The nest is located at an undisclosed location on a high-rise.
