Phoenix Police say a 22-year-old man has died after he was hit by a taxi on Wednesday night.
Around 8 p.m., police were called to the scene near Central Avenue and Camelback Road in response to a pedestrian who was struck by a car.
A taxi cab traveling southbound reportedly tried to brake, but ended up hitting 22-year-old Marcus Hobbie, who was crossing the street at the time.
Police say he was not using a crosswalk.
Investigators do not believe speed or impairment were factors in the crash. Due to the area where Hobbie was crossing, the time of night and his dark clothing, police say visibility was an issue.
The driver has not been cited.
