March was the busiest month ever for Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
City officials say nearly 4.3 million passengers traveled through the airport in March, an increase of approximately 65,000 passengers from the previous record set in March of 2015.
March is typically the airport's business month due to the mild weather in Arizona's desert region plus sporting event such as baseball spring training.
Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton also cited the improving economy as a factor in the increase in passenger traffic.
