A false-positive STD is the basis for a lawsuit claiming marital strife.
A woman went to the Sunnyslope Family Health Center for a routine health issue in 2015, according to the suit.
A call from the clinic two days later came with news of a positive STD test, which led to the wife confronting her husband with questions of infidelity, according to the suit.
After re-testing, it was determined that the positive test was not accurate.
A spokesman for Maricopa Integrated Health System, of which the clinic is a part, declined to comment.
The suit claims negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress, due to the clinic not explaining that the issue was called by a mislabeled sample, the suit claims.
The lawyer for the couple declined to make them available for comment.
