With temperatures on the rise and more bees swarming homeowners are saying to watch out for scams.

Agata Kennedy says she was billed more than $1,000 for a service that should normally cost less than $200.

"I knew I got ripped off right away. As soon as they told me the price," said Kennedy.

Kennedy says that when she called the same company back they then tried to charge her an additional $2,500, saying that new bees had come in and gotten into her roof.  Money she refused to pay.

"I felt very ripped off and I just don't want this to happen to anybody else," said Kennedy.

Dave Peterson with the Beekeepers Association of Central Arizona says reputable bee removal companies well only charge between $150 - $250 per job.

"The first price should cover the whole thing. Like if it's $250 dollars that should be for coming in to kill the bees and then coming in the next day and cleaning everything up," said Peterson.

Peterson says the best way to protect yourself is to call multiple companies and check with the Better Business Bureau.
