A family of 13 made it out of their home alive when it caught fire, but now they don’t have a place to sleep, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.
Fire officials said three adults and ten children live at the home on Tonto Street, which is near Buckeye Road and 35th Avenue. The blaze started as a mattress fire in the kitchen.
All the residents and their cat made it out unharmed, but the home has severe smoke damage.
