A former Arizona Department of Environmental Quality business officer accused of stealing more than $34,000 from the state has been sentenced to 60 days in jail.

The Arizona Attorney General's Office announced Tuesday that 48-year-old Susan Marie Rall also was sentenced to three years of supervised probation.

Prosecutors say Rall has paid back the stolen money and will forfeit more than $19,000 from her state retirement system account.

ADEQ staff became aware in January of financial irregularities involving purchases Rall initiated for the agency.

A grand jury indicted Rall and her husband on seven felony counts including theft, forgery, money laundering, conspiracy, fraudulent schemes and artifices, and illegally conducting an enterprise.

Rall pleaded guilty to theft in July.

Charges against Rall's husband were dropped as part of the plea agreement.
