Driver sought after deadly hit-and-run Saturday evening in Phoenix, police say

Police are searching for the driver of a flatbed truck following a deadly hit-and-run in Phoenix Saturday evening.

According to Phoenix police, a pedestrian was struck by a white flatbed truck while crossing 16th Street at the intersection of McDowell Road just before 7:30 p.m.

The pedestrian, identified as 66-year-old Rafael Martinez Garcia, died from his injuries. The driver of the truck did not stop after the collision and fled the scene.

The truck was detected on a nearby gas station's surveillance video after the collision as it drove through the gas station and fled westbound on McDowell Road.

The investigation is ongoing.
