Back in college, I used to work for a bank -- Bank One at the time -- and my career in finance, of course, didn't go anywhere.

But I do remember people complaining about the interest rates. They were so low for savings accounts. Of course, now they are a fraction of what they used to be so not a lot of people feel that they can save their money and grow their money.

There's a new app to help you out with that. It's called Digit.

You sign up, log in for free and put in some personal information. Digit connects you to your checking account with the kind of technology you've seen with some of those budgeting apps out there.

A few times a week Digit will take money in amounts from $5 to $50 and stash it away for you. No fees, no minimum balance and you can take the money whenever you want.

Digit isn't going to make you rich and they don't claim that they will. But the app can get your mindset right to start saving.
