A Catholic organization that oversees the placement of clergy at locations in nearly a dozen states, including Arizona, will soon release the findings of an investigation into sexual misconduct by its priests.

Brophy president Adria Renke notified the school's community of the pending report by Jesuits West Province in an email Tuesday.

The report, which will be released on December 7, will detail the names of all Jesuit priests under the province's jurisdiction who have been found to have credible allegations of sexual abuse against minors going back to 1950.

All Jesuit priests are assigned to Brophy through Jesuits West, which used to be called the California Province of the Society of Jesus, and which encompasses 10 states.

Renke said administrators did not have the names of the priests who had been found to have credible allegations against them, nor whether any had served at Brophy at some point in the past.

Should the school learn a former faculty member is named in the report, Renke promised the school would cooperate with the investigation and ensure offenders are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Anyone who has felt victimized by a Jesuit is encouraged to call victim's advocate Mary Panighetti at 408-893-8398 as well as law enforcement and child protective agencies.
