Arizona's unemployment rate is down.
A report released Thursday by the state Department of Administration says Arizona's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 5.8 percent in December. That's down from 6 percent in November and from 6.6 percent in December 2014.
The department reports that the state added 7,400 nonfarm jobs in December.
Across the state's economy, five economic sectors added jobs in December while six posted losses.
The Trade, Transportation and Utilities sector recorded the largest gain with 5,700 additional jobs, followed by Professional and Business Services with 5,200 additional jobs and Financial Activities with 3,100 more jobs.
Among sectors losing jobs, Government lost the most with 5,900 fewer positions. Construction lost 2,100 jobs.
