An 11-year-old Bornean orangutan at the Phoenix Zoo has died.

Zoo officials say the orangutan named Kasih died Saturday morning after experiencing sudden and serious signs of neurological disease.

They say an MRI was done on the orangutan last Thursday and a large brain mass was discovered.

The average life expectancy of a Bornean orangutan is 35 to 45 years.

Zoo officials say Kasih was born at the Phoenix Zoo in 2006.

Her 38-year-mother and 30-year-old father still are at the zoo.
