A man’s home was destroyed in a fire last week and investigators suspect it may be a case of arson, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the resident had not been at the home, located on East Monte Vista Circle, in two weeks and that no one was inside when it went up in flames last Saturday morning.
The resident told investigators he has an ongoing conflict with some neighbors, but it is unclear who may have started the fire, deputies said.
A witness reported seeing a suspicious person walking on Cortez Road, just south of the home, shortly before the fire started. The man is described as thin and wearing a solid black hooded jacket with and American flag patch on the back.
The neighbor also told deputies that there was a silver 4-door car that drove away at the same time that the suspicious man disappeared. It is unclear whether the man is connected to the car.
