Prescott is asking the public for input on a planned memorial for the firefighters killed during a June 2013 wildfire.

The Daily Courier reports that Prescott officials have been working for much of the past two years to design and build a memorial for the Granite Mountain Hotshots.

The memorial will commemorate the 19 firefighters who were killed while battling the Yarnell Hill wildfire.

Currently the only definite plans are that the memorial will be located on 440 square feet of the Prescott courthouse plaza.

Retired Prescott Fire Chief Bruce Martinez, who heads the Memorial Partnership that is organizing the memorial, says community members should submit ideas for the design and that fundraising efforts will increase after the design is approved.
