The roads to Lake Mohave will be paved with a smoother surface.

The National Park Service says improvements for roadways leading to the lake and Katherine Landing will begin Monday.

The work is part of an $11.3 million construction project for Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

Officials say the construction includes Davis Dam Road, Katherine Spur Road and paved parking lots in Katherine Landing.

Roads will be widened to 12-foot lanes with 2-foot shoulders.

The construction will take place seven days a week and is expected to be completed by May 31.

Roads will remain open but visitors should expect 15-minute delays.

The project is funded by federal transportation funding.
