A 51-year-old man has been arrested after police say he was involved in an assault and then fled the scene with five children in the car.
According to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office, Gregory Neil Russell was involved in an assault at 10:20 p.m. on Highway 66 near milepost 90.
MCSO says Russell then left the scene of the assault with five children in his vehicle.
Deputies found him speeding on Highway 66 near milepost 90. The man was stopped and an odor of alcohol was noted as he swayed back and forth. He refused to take a field sobriety test.
Russell was taken into custody where his blood alcohol concentration level was analyzed at .117 percent.
The man was arrested on charges of aggravated DUI, aggravated DUI with passengers under 15 and child abuse.
The children in the vehicle were released to family members.
