A drunk and agitated man is behind bars accused of assaulting a sheriff's deputy.

According to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office, Ralph Eugene Adams, 47, of Fort Mohave, was booked into jail Thursday on aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, criminal damage and assault.

That morning, a woman called 911 and told dispatchers that her boyfriend's uncle, identified as Adams, was attacking her boyfriend and had previously kicked her dog.

The 19-year-old man told police that his uncle lunged toward his girlfriend and when he intervened, his uncle began attacking him.

While talking with the victim, Adams began yelling at his nephew and ignored deputies' commands to be quiet. He was eventually detained and put into a patrol car, where he began kicking the car and again refused to listen to deputies commands, said MCSO.

He stopped once he was sprayed with pepper spray.
