Quick work by Flagstaff firefighters saved several homes from burning in a small wildfire that started Saturday in a wooded area.
Fire officials say a Fire Captain already in the area and units reported to check smoke near Fanning Drive and St. Moritz found a fire burning just feet from three homes.
Firefighters were quickly able to stop the flames from progressing and sprayed a wet line around the area before fully extinguishing the wildfire an hour later.
There is no word yet on what caused the fire, but officials say high winds had put firefighters on high alert on Saturday.
