SCOTTSDALE, AZ — It started as just words on social media but ended in a real-life battle.

According to court documents, 20-year-old Jorge Garcia was arrested Wednesday after Scottsdale police say he opened fire on a group of teens near Chaparral and Scottsdale roads.

Police say Garcia and two teens were fighting over Snapchat when Garcia decided to drive to one teen's home armed.

"This is a person that we’ve known for five years," said Hannah, one teen's mom. "It just goes to show you don’t really know who you think you know.”

She says no one was hurt but could have been if it wasn't for her neighbor's car.

“If she hadn’t been home, somebody would’ve been hit," Hannah added.

Tanya Smith's SUV sat between Garcia and Hannah's 18-year-old son. Bullets went through the car door, and even blew out tires, likely causing at least a thousand dollars in damage.

“At least my car was their protector, you know? My car took all the bullets," said Smith.

Garcia was found less than four miles from the crime scene, driving the same car witnesses described. Court documents say Garcia was found with a stolen gun by his side.

Garcia now facing seven charges of aggravated assault, and two for attempted murder.
