Scottsdale to start searching for new manager

Posted

Scottsdale is looking for a new city manager.

Fritz Behring has been fired after a nine-month absence from City Hall following medical problems.

Behring suffered a seizure during a City Council meeting last June.

His recovery was set back after a stroke about a month later.

Behring also spent much of 2014 on medical leave recovering from an undisclosed surgery.

The City Council voted 7-0 last week after a closed-door executive session to terminate Behring's employment.

Scottsdale will soon begin a search for a permanent replacement.

The city's water resources director, Brian Biesemeyer, will continue as acting city manager.
