A Scottsdale man has been arrested for purposely starting a fire on his apartment balcony.

According to court records, on May 9 Brett Wieber made a pile of clothes and pillows on his balcony and lit it on fire.

Wieber allegedly told police he just liked to watch the fire and that he left his apartment when the fire got out of control.

Police found Wieber nearby two hours later and arrested him. According to police, Wieber made no effort to put the fire out or notify neighbors.

Several units in the building had to be evacuated, and one person burned their hand trying to put the fire out.

He has been charged with endangerment, arson and false reporting after he gave officers a fake name.
