Police say two people have been taken into custody for questioning after a man was shot and killed at a gas station Sunday night.
According to a police spokesperson, a 35-year-old African-American man was killed around 8:30 p.m. at the station at the intersection of Hayden and McKellips roads.
Investigators said no surveillance cameras were pointing in the area where the crime occurred, but they were reviewing footage that showed a possible suspect vehicle leaving.
That vehicle was found and stopped after a brief pursuit near McDowell and Extension, police say. The persons of interest inside were taken into custody to be questioned.
Authorities said they were still piecing together what happened leading up to the shooting. Salt River police are asking for two witnesses who alerted the gas station clerk to come forward to answer some questions as well.
