Yuma Police said a person was pronounced dead at the scene after being found unconscious in a palm tree.
Officers were dispatched to the scene near 20th Street and Naples Avenue on a welfare check where they discovered the person high up in the tree. The Fire Department was called to assist and discovered a large amount of debris on the victim, who was not secured to the tree.
The Fire Department was able to assess the person once they were brought to the ground, at which point the victim was pronounced dead.
Police believe the person was working on the tree and the death is believed to be accidental. No foul play is suspected.
