Officials say Customs and Border Protections officers at the Wellton Station took 58 suspects into custody since Thursday. They also seized more than 1,200 pounds of marijuana.

According to authorities, 21 men were caught allegedly smuggling roughly 840 pounds of marijuana. The suspects are from Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala.

In another incident, three men were found hiding in the trunk of a vehicle at an immigration checkpoint on Interstate 8. Agents say the driver is a U.S. citizen and will be charged with human smuggling.

Authorities also found two men allegedly trying to re-enter the U.S. with 218 pounds of marijuana. Both had been previously deported.
