We have some pretty cool astronomical events happening this year, but the first show is happening this week and we should be in the perfect spot to see it.
The Quadrantids meteor shower is set to peak overnight between Thursday, January 3 and early Friday, January 4.
AccuWeather says viewing conditions will be most ideal in the southwestern and central United States.
During perfect conditions, anywhere from 60 to over 100 meteors per hour can be seen during the peak, they report.

Soon after the meteor shower, on January 6, a partial solar eclipse is set to grace the sky.
