Former heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali has been hospitalized with a respiratory issue, NBC News reports.
According to a statement from Ali's family, the former boxer is being treated by a team of doctors and is in fair condition.
"A brief hospital stay is expected," the statement reads.

Ali, who suffers from Parkinson's disease, had three stints as the world heavyweight champion throughout the '60s and '70s. He is also an outspoken activist for civil rights and world peace.
