Airbnb has announced it will be limiting who can make reservations this holiday season in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Starting Thursday, Airbnb says it will prohibit guests without a history of positive reviews from making one-night reservations of entire homes on New Year's Eve.

The company had similar restrictions for Halloween that resulted in the suspension or removal of 50 Arizona listings, according to a media release. Those properties received complaints or violated policies regarding events and parties.

The New Year's Eve restrictions will be implemented in several countries, including the United States, and will not impact those who have already made reservations.
