PHOENIX — Phoenix police are investigating a deadly crash involving a motorized scooter near 3rd Street and Bell Road.

Officers say on Friday at about 6 p.m., 72-year-old Boruch Pinkhasov, was riding his motorized scooter on Bell Road, mid-block when he was struck by a Dodge pickup truck.

Pinkhasov was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the truck, a 26-year-old woman, stopped and remained at the scene until police arrived. She and her two-year-old passenger were not hurt.

According to police, the driver was not impaired and speed does not appear to be a factor.

Crosswalks and traffic signals were in either direction of where the crash happened at both 3rd Street to the east and Central Avenue to the west.

The investigation remains ongoing.
