Perry Smith and his family were heading back to their hotel after a day of skiing at Whitetail ski resort in Pennsylvania when they spotted an animal on the side of the road.

“The animal didn’t run [from the car]," Smith said.

Smith told ABC News that when he got out of the car, the baby pig was lying still, covered in snow and ice. After asking local homeowners if they had any idea where the pig came from, Smith said he made “a pretty simple decision."

“I told the kids, ‘Listen, we don’t have any choice but to take this pig in. We’re gonna see if we can’t warm him up and we’ll deal with it when we get to the hotel,'" he said.

Wrapped in a sweatshirt, the Smiths snuck the pig--who they’ve named Wee Wee--into their hotel and made him comfortable in the bath tub. Wee Wee spent Friday night slowly recovering from the cold.

The family was eventually able to get the pig to eat and drink. Smith said Wee Wee has developed quite the personality and is even responding to his name.

Smith said Poplar Springs Animal Sanctuary in Maryland has agreed to adopt the pig.
