TUCSON, Ariz. — Pima County Sheriff's deputies say a 15-year-old boy is facing murder charges after a man was killed near the south side Sunday.

Deputies responded to the area of 3100 block of East Drexel Road around 11 a.m. for a report of a disturbance, PCSD says. Upon arrival, they found a man with life-threatening injuries.

The man, later identified as 61-year-old Jose Mendoza Martinez, was taken to Banner University Medical Center, where he later died, PCSD says.

Detectives responded to the scene to continue the investigation, which led to the arrest of a 15-year-old juvenile.

PCSD says the 15-year-old was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder.

No other details were immediately released.
