Hiring movers can be expensive. So a lot of us rent trucks and make small moves ourselves.

At $19.95 a day, Keith Gibson thought he'd be saving a lot. He says he brought the truck back on time and within limits. Then he got hit with a $25 cleaning fee.

We've heard of unwanted damage protection charges and complaints about mileage or gas fees. But Keith says this cleaning fee came out of the blue. And he says it was totally unfair.

He has pictures to prove it. Yes, Keith says even though the truck didn't need it, he swept out the cab.

And he showed pictures he says he took when he brought the truck back to back up his "clean" claim.

But U-Haul would still not return his money. A corporate spokesperson told our sister station, "If additional time and effort is required to prepare the equipment for the next customer, a 25 dollar fee may be assessed."

Still, taking pictures of the mileage, gas gauge and the cab when you bring the truck back, is a great idea. You may need it if you decide to take it to small claims court later.
