Annualcreditreport.com is the place to go for free credit reports from each of the 3 credit bureaus: Experian, TransUnion and Equifax.

By law you're entitled to a copy every 12 months. However, credit scores are not included.

Often that means consumers have to pay for it.

But according to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) more financial institutions are offering the scores at no cost.

Several are available to all consumers whether they do business with the company or not.

According to a report from the CFPBcompanies like Chase Credit Journey, Discover Financial Services, and Credit Karma, are a few of several companies offering the service to all consumers. Others offer free credit scores with use of their products.

You'll have to confirm your identity while signing up, so be ready to answer more in depth questions about yourself.

Also, take a look at the terms and conditions which dictate solicitations and their future contact with you.
