Apple recently recalled some of its popular Macbook Pro computers for a possible fire danger.

HP, Sony, Toshiba and others have also recalled after complaints of damage and injuries. The batteries are the issue.

Apple is recalling more than 400,000 15-inch Macbook Pros sold between September 2015 and February 2017.

They say they received 26 reports of the battery overheating, causing minor injuries and property damage.

But what if you bought a refurbished laptop likely after those dates? Your computer could have the same potential danger, so it's important to check your computer.

The recalls are listed by model number and certain dates sold.

Model number information should be on the laptop itself or find it through system settings.

Then go to and search the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

If listed, you'll also see a remedy.

But Data Doctors Ken Colburn warns, if you take your computer in for service, back up everything!

He says some techs "wipe the machine out and reload it as a brand new machine meaning the owner lost everything."
