Arizona utility company APS is warning customers about a fake call center scam going targeting small businesses.

A spokesman says scammers leave potential victims a message to call a 1-800 number to pay their bill and prevent disconnection.

Callers who dial the number are prompted through as if it is the legitimate APS customer service number.

After choosing the options to pay your bill, victims are connected to a fake customer service agent claiming to be with APS.

The company would not say what specific information the fake agents are asking for, but urge customers to only use legitimate APS phone numbers to verify any contact from the company.

APS customer service number is (602) 371-7171.
