UPDATE: Driver booked for DUI after rear-ending Phoenix police cruiser

New details have emerged after a DUI driver allegedly rear-ended a Phoenix police cruiser on Sunday morning.

Phoenix Police say the driver, 26-year-old Abraham Hurtado Iniguez, struck a police cruiser near 26th Avenue and Bethany Home Road around 3:30 a.m.

Police say one officer was standing next to the car and went flying upon impact. Another officer was seated in the vehicle and suffered cuts to his head. 

Iniguez was detained by the injured officers after trying to start his car. Police report his B.A. C. level was .128.

Both officers involved in the collision were taken to the hospital for minor injuries. 

Iniguez has been charged with DUI and endangerment.
