A woman ran to a neighbor for help after her boyfriend allegedly tried to set her on fire.

Phoenix police report that on May 24, just after midnight, they responded to a home near 99th Avenue and Indian School Road. There they met a woman who told them that her boyfriend, 31-year-old Gilbert James Trinidad, hit her, threw knives at her, sprayed her with an aerosol can and tried to set her on fire.

Police say the woman also accused Trinidad of spraying their infant daughter with the contents of a Glade can and threatened to set her on fire as well.

Police were able to get Trinidad to surrender, and the baby was rescued, unharmed. Police say they did find a "bent knife in the kitchen sink" and a Glade aerosol can in the home.

Trinidad is being held on a $100,000 bond and is expected to face charges of kidnapping and aggravated assault.
